Breed History

The Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla was created by cross-breeding the Hungarian Shorthaired Vizsla with the German Wirehaired Pointer during the 1930's.

General Appearance

A lively rust colored hunting dog that is more stalkier than the Shorthaired Vizsla.  The coat is wiry, strong and dense.  The nose is broad and the color of the coat.  The eyes are also the coat color.  Their gait is animated with a light-footed trot.
They are affectionate, self confident and easily trained.  Some have docked tails and their dew claws are removed and have webbed feet for swimming.  Their jaws are powerful.
